Feeling festive (100th post!!!)

In years past, I haven't really gone above & beyond when it came to holiday decorations, however I feel like all of that is about to change. Now that I'm a grown up, and have a grown up house, I feel like I need to decorate like a grown up (as long as I'm still allowed to use lots of glitter...).

I'm hosting our group's first 'Bunco' party this week, and the thought of having people over sent me into decor overdrive. After scouring Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge for some festive Halloween goodness and coming up empty handed, I landed at Z Gallerie to find these beauts. They're only $9.99, and freakishly big & life like (sans the glitter). Two of them were the perfect touch for my Sandra Lee inspired tablescape. It looks gothically fab, if I do say so myself. I promise to post pictures soon!

Once Halloween has come and gone, I'll probably skip over Thanksgiving and head right to Christmas. I was tempted to buy a tree a few weeks ago at Garden Ridge (they're on sale!), but was talked down from my yuletide ledge and reminded that the holidays were still months away. *sigh*

However, what to my wondering eyes did appear in my inbox today? The answer to all of my holiday decorating woes. Decorum Home + Design, located at the Hill Country Galleria, is hosting an in-store event next month to help you Holiday ready your home. Here's the scoop:

Preparing for the Holidays
7-8:30pm, Wednesday - November 10, 2010
As the holidays near, it’s time to begin readying the house for guests. Chris Beach will share thoughtful DIY ideas for welcoming guests and ideas for seasonal table and home décor that can debut at Thanksgiving and, with a few updates, create a fresh look throughout the holiday season. Chris will also share tips for Trimming the Tree. This year’s Christmas tree incorporates bold color (grassy greens, yellows and more) that refreshes and compliments heirloom ornaments and trimmings. Learn how to create a stylish holiday design that combines the old and the new.

If any Austinites are interested in attending, let me know!  There was also mention of wine & light snacks (although they had me at 'wine').

Lastly, I will leave you with this little nugget of greatness. I don't plan on dressing up for Halloween, however, I will offer a fantastic prize if anyone is willing to go as NoNo. Because this makes me happy.
