My motto: 'If it stands still, hot-glue some pom-pom fringe to it.' Ok, so that's not really my motto, but it's a good rule of thumb. Pom-pom fringe makes everything more fun, so why not make all the things as fun as possible? For your next dinner gathering, try adding some pom-poms to either your placemats or dinner napkins. The process is super simple, and the result will leave your guests feeling particularly festive!
Supplies:
- 1/2" - 3/4" Pom-Pom Fringe [available at any fabric store]
- Plain Placemats [I got these at Garden Ridge for $1.99]
- Plain Cloth Dinner Napkins [I found mine at World Market (set of 6)]
- Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks [I used 'HIGH' temp]
Once your hot-glue gun has heated up, on the back side of your placemat, glue about a 4" strip along the edge. Place the trim of your pom-pom fringe along the glue and lightly press [Watch out! The glue is hot!] Continue this process all along the edge of the placemat.
Once you're done, simply snip the end of your pom-pom fringe, and voila!
Follow the same instructions for your dinner napkins. Instead of going all the way around the edge of the dinner napkin, I just did the bottom edge, so it would look 'cleaner' when it was folded on the table.
And how appropriate is this darling print from my all-time favorite, Furbish Studio?! For more easy entertaining ideas, be sure to tune into Good Day Austin this morning at 9:45am CST. Don't worry, I'll post a link to the segment, as soon as it's available!
